Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with deep knowledge of on prem data center environments, strong identity management skills, and solid networking and security fundamentals. This role is an engineering position, not an architect or management role. Candidates must be prepared to contribute hands-on in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with infrastructure, networking, and security teams.

There is future growth potential into senior roles within 1 to 3 years depending on performance. Training and certifications will be provided or reimbursed for all items identified in the "Must have and will teach" section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support on prem infrastructure including servers, virtualization platforms, networking systems, and identity services.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and investigation in high pressure situations.
  • Execute deployment plans across Windows, Linux, VMware, and network security technologies.
  • Manage and enhance Active Directory, Entra ID, and related IAM frameworks.
  • Support firewall administration and enforce Zero Trust and identity aware networking concepts.
  • Participate in incident response processes, forensics activities, and change management workflows.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and process standards.
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and networking teams to implement solutions that align with compliance requirements and organizational policies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Assist with patching, vulnerability management, log analysis, automation, and scripting initiatives.
  • Apply knowledge of cryptography, secrets management, and certificate management.

Required Skills (Must have and will not teach)

  • Very strong troubleshooting and investigation skills.
  • Ability to perform in high stress and high pressure environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills across security, infrastructure, and network teams.
  • Hands-on experience managing current Windows and Linux server operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience managing VMware virtualization environments.
  • Hands-on experience managing firewalls.
  • Advanced Active Directory administration experience.
  • Experience managing Entra ID.
  • Experience executing deployment plans.
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust and identity aware networking concepts including conditional access, VPN, Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect.
  • Advanced TCP and IP and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience working within IT standards, policies, and baselines.
  • Strong documentation creation skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities and a level-headed approach.
  • Ability to work independently and semi autonomously.

  • Solution architecture and design exposure.
  • Understanding of the Identity Tiering Model.
  • Incident response handling fundamentals.
  • Change management best practices.
  • Vulnerability management and patch management.
  • On-call rotation processes.
  • Applied cryptography knowledge.
  • Secrets, API, and PKI and certificate management.
  • Log collection and search tools.
  • Basic automation and scripting skills.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Security by Design methodology.
  • Advanced network design experience.
  • Understanding of the Purdue Model for OT environments.
  • Exposure to data center operations.
  • Experience with NIST, ISO 27001, CIS frameworks.
  • Current certifications such as CCNA, Network Plus, Azure, or Microsoft.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong mid-level infrastructure engineer with a data center background.
  • Hands-on operator with the ability to design at a high level when needed.
  • Comfortable balancing on prem responsibilities with limited cloud exposure.
  • Familiar with OT security concepts and identity management in operational environments.
  • Capable of keeping LinkedIn and resume aligned to avoid hiring manager declines.
